Frequently Asked Questions

I offer 2 coaching modalities:

- Somatic EMDR coaching is non-cognitive, works with the body and the nervous system, requiring no verbal explanation.

- Mindset coaching is needed to build awareness, to understand beliefs, purpose, programming, habits, and to work on new responses or strategies. This modality serves any individuals, leaders, executives and comprises of 1:1, groups, and team coaching.

> What’s the difference between Mindset Coaching and Trauma/Stress Release Coaching?
Mindset Coaching focuses on the cognitive: behavioural change, enhancing self-awareness, addressing blocks to growth, and improving decision making. In contrast, Trauma/Stress Release Coaching addresses the non-cognitive level, working directly with the nervous system and body.

> What makes you a good choice for coaching?
I bring extensive experience (since 2006), professional association membership, accredited training and an intuitive approach; quickly getting to root of issues when clients are ready. My ability to build trust and rapport fosters a heart-centered connection, enhancing trust building. You can schedule a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit.

> How does Somatic EMDR Coaching work?
Somatic EMDR Coaching uses bilateral stimulation (like tapping or eye movements) to help reduce the brain's fear response, allowing sensations to be expressed safely without overwhelm. This helps "unstick" emotional memories stored as sensations, making the nervous system less reactive to triggers. Healing continues after sessions as clients integrate their experiences. These can manifest as emotions, tiredness, detox symptoms, new insights, less stress, or increased energy.

There is no requirement to re-tell or analyse traumatic memories (some of which may be pre-memory or epigenetic); the body has its own non-cognitive ways of processing.

Some people find the sessions almost meditative and often feel calm, but tired, afterwards.

> Will I need to talk about everything in Trauma/Stress Release coaching?
No, Somatic EMDR allows for resolution without needing to discuss specific memories or attach meanings. You do not have to connect bodily sensations to cognitive memories.

> How will I know if Somatic EMDR Coaching is working?
Results vary by individual. Many experience subtle shifts or releases during sessions, often followed by feelings of calm and reduced symptoms of stress, fear or pressure. Over time, clients may notice a decrease in overwhelm and discomfort, a lessening of physical pain in some cases, plus an increase in self-compassion and empowerment.

People often report feeling more resilient and lighter.

Progress can often feel gradual, similar to healing a fractured bone, though some people do notice immediate relief.

> What is trauma?
Trauma is a physical/nervous system imprint/scar of unresolved stress, sensations, or emotions from overwhelming experiences. These imprints shape our responses and can trigger stress or fear later in life, often without conscious awareness.

> How many coaching sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies per individual and their unique needs. Some may find benefits after 3 sessions, while others might require more as they process different behaviours, awareness or resolve issues.

Leadership and Executive coaching packages often follow a 6 or 12 month programme.

> What is not covered by your coaching?
I am not a licensed therapist and cannot address clinical issues requiring a psychologist or medical professional. If your needs exceed my scope, I will guide you toward appropriate resources. In a crisis, please seek emergency help—contact emergency services or, if in the UK, hotlines like NHS 111 or The Samaritans: 116 123.
